(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins will try to continue their remarkable play when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the second installment of a three-game interleague series at the Metrodome.
The Twins have collected 10 consecutive wins and now sit just a half-game back of the AL Central leading Chicago White Sox. During this impressive stretch Minnesota swept National League opponents Washington, Arizona and San Diego, and are tied with the Kansas City Royals for the best record in interleague play this season at 13-3.
Looking to keep the Twins in the win column will be Livan Hernandez, as the crafty veteran will take the hill in hopes of grabbing his third straight win. Since going 0-3 over a span of six starts, the right-hander has won back-to- back starts, including a 5-3 decision over Arizona this past Sunday.
In that win, Hernandez lasted seven innings against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits, but was able to strike out five batters.
There is no question Hernandez prefers the comfort of the Metrodome, where the 33-year-old is a perfect 6-0 in nine starts.
Hernandez has faced the Brewers 18 times in his career, collecting a mediocre 7-5 record with a 3.70 ERA.
The Brewers will send the red-hot Manny Parra to the hill tonight, as the right-hander will look for his sixth consecutive win. Parra collected his seventh victory of the season this past Sunday when he led the Brewers to a 7-3 win over Baltimore.
In the victory, the 25-year-old only last five innings, surrendering three runs on five hits and six walks.
Parra has not pitched well away from Miller Park, posting a mediocre 2-2 ledger in six starts, and has an atrocious 7.23 ERA.
On Friday, Joe Mauer's solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in the go-ahead run, as the Twins rallied to down Milwaukee, 7-6.
Jason Kubel finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored for Minnesota, which is riding its longest winning streak since taking 11 straight from June 22-July 3, 2006. Delmon Young went 3-for-4 and drove in a run.
Second baseman Alexi Casilla went 2-for-2 with a solo home run before leaving in the fifth inning because of a sprained left middle finger. He was replaced by Nick Punto.
Minnesota starter Nick Blackburn went just 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. Brian Bass gave up one hit in 2 1/3 innings of relief. The rally made a winner out of Matt Guerrier (4-2) after he hurled a scoreless eighth.
Corey Hart clubbed a pair of home runs and finished with three RBI for the Brewers, who have dropped two in a row following a four-game winning streak. J.J. Hardy belted a two-run homer, while Russell Branyan added a solo shot. Ryan Braun was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored.
Seth McClung went 4 2/3 innings and surrendered five runs on nine hits for Milwaukee. Guillermo Mota (2-5) was saddled with the loss after he gave up the home run to Mauer.
Joe Nathan worked around a pair of hits by Rickie Weeks and Braun in the ninth to notch his 22nd save of the season.
The Twins took two of three when the clubs met in Milwaukee after splitting six games last year. The Brewers are 6-7 versus the AL this season.
