Cincinnati Reds (36-43) at Toronto Blue Jays (37-42), 7:07 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Precocious right-hander Edinson Volquez continues a quest for the pitching "Triple Crown" tonight, when the Cincinnati Reds close out a three-game interleague series with the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

A 24-year-old in his first season with the Reds after a trade with Texas, Volquez already leads the National League in strikeouts (110) and earned run average (1.71), and his 10 wins are second only to Arizona's Brandon Webb (11).

Before this season, Volquez had made 14 starts and was 3-7 after allowing 86 hits and 44 earned runs in 67 1/3 innings with the Rangers. He was acquired for current Texas star outfielder Josh Hamilton.

In his last start, on June 20 at Yankee Stadium, Volquez earned victory No. 10 after allowing seven hits and two runs and striking out five over seven innings of Cincinnati's 4-2 defeat of the Yankees.

He has never faced the Blue Jays.

Toronto goes with young righty Jesse Litsch, who is searching for his first win since late May.

The 23-year-old Florida native was 7-1 after a 12-0 rout of Oakland on May 29, but has since gone 0-3 in four starts and watched his earned run average rise from 3.18 to 4.06.

He was touched for five hits and six runs in six innings of a 6-3 defeat by Pittsburgh on June 21, and had given up 28 hits in 17 2/3 innings over his three previous outings.

Litsch, who is 3-1 at home this season with a 3.55 ERA in 45 2/3 innings, has never faced the Reds.

On Wednesday, Jay Bruce hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to lift the Reds over the Blue Jays, 6-5, in the second contest of a three-game set at Rogers Centre.

Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer for the Reds, who snapped a two-game skid and won for just the third time in their last 10 games. Cincinnati blew a five-run lead in this one, but was still able to bounce back from a 14-1 drubbing on Tuesday.

Adam Lind and Joe Inglett each blasted two-run homers for the Blue Jays, who had a modest two-game win streak halted and lost for the eighth time in 10 contests. Alex Rios added three hits in the losing effort.

Jared Burton (4-1) earned the victory in two scoreless innings in which he surrendered one hit and one walk, while striking out three.

Francisco Cordero tossed a perfect inning to register his 15th save of the campaign.

Aaron Harang yielded five runs on seven hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings in the start for the Reds, while Roy Halladay surrendered five runs on nine hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 frames.

Toronto took two of three from the Reds the last time these teams met back in 2003.
