(Sports Network) - Barry Zito tries to snap a two-start losing streak this evening when the San Francisco Giants play the middle test of their three-game series against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field.

Zito, of course, has been atrocious since joining the Giants prior to last season. After going just 11-13 a year ago, Zito has been even worse this season, posting a 2-11 mark to go along with a 6.32 earned run average.

The former AL Cy Young Award winner was tagged with the loss on Wednesday against Detroit, as he surrendered five runs and five hits in two innings.

Zito, who has never won an interleague game while with the Giants, has faced the Indians nine times and is 5-3 with a 2.71 ERA.

Cleveland will counter with lefty Jeremy Sowers, who is 0-2 with a 6.57 ERA. Sowers took the loss on Thursday against the Colorado Rockies and gave up four runs (three earned) and 10 hits in six innings.

Sowers has never faced the Giants.

In the opener of this set on Tuesday, Omar Vizquel laid down a sacrifice bunt in executing a ninth-inning suicide squeeze play for the deciding run, as San Francisco eked out a 3-2 win.

Jose Castillo had two hits and a run batted in and Bengie Molina had two hits while scoring a run. Vizquel, in his first game back in Cleveland since leaving after the 2004 campaign, added the other RBI for San Francisco, which halted a two-game slide.

In a battle of southpaws, Aaron Laffey and Jonathan Sanchez (7-4) were dealing from the outset, allowing one run apiece over the first six innings. Laffey was pulled after loading the bases in the seventh, finishing with a one-run effort on four hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings. Sanchez hurled 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball on five hits and two walks while fanning eight.

Grady Sizemore and Ben Francisco singled with a run scored while Ryan Garko and David Dellucci had and RBI each for Cleveland, which has dropped two of three.

This is San Francisco's first-ever visit to Cleveland, but the Indians swept a three-game set at home from the Giants back in 2005.
