(Sports Network) - Cito Gaston looks for his second straight win in stint No. 2 at the helm of the Blue Jays tonight, when the Cincinnati Reds head to Toronto for the first of three interleague games at Rogers Centre.
Gaston, who managed the Jays to World Series titles in 1992 and 1993, re-took the top spot on Friday after John Gibbons was fired.
Toronto lost the first two games of a three-game series in Pittsburgh before taking the finale, 8-5, on Sunday.
Right-hander A.J. Burnett will get the call from Gaston to start, with hopes on improving a 1-3 mark against the Reds in six career starts. In 32 2/3 innings against Cincinnati, the 31-year-old has allowed 40 hits and 25 earned runs, posting a 6.89 earned run average.
He's 1-3 with a no-decision in his last five starts overall, including an 8-7 loss at Milwaukee on June 19, in which he was touched for eight hits and eight runs in five innings, raising his 2008 ERA from 4.90 to 5.42.
For the Reds, it's right-hander Bronson Arroyo, who's winless in four starts since reeling off a five-start unbeaten streak from May 10 to May 28. In four June outings, Arroyo is 0-2 with a pair of no-decisions and has allowed 26 hits and 15 runs in 21 1/3 innings.
He is 2-3 in nine career starts against the Blue Jays with a 4.34 ERA.
On Sunday in New York, Andy Pettitte pitched six shutout innings to win his third straight start and Jason Giambi drove in two runs and scored twice, as the Yankees salvaged the finale of a three-game series against Cincinnati with a 4-1 victory.
Ken Griffey Jr. homered for the Reds, who lost for the sixth time in their last eight games. Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto each stroked a pair of hits in defeat.
Cincinnati rookie Johnny Cueto (5-8) pitched well in five innings, but lost his third straight start. He gave up one run on four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
In Pittsburgh, Lyle Overbay had the go-ahead two-run double in a four-run sixth inning, as the Blue Jays snapped a seven-game losing streak.
Dustin McGowan (6-5) allowed four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits and a walk while striking out two for the victory. B.J. Ryan pitched a perfect ninth to notch his 15th save.
Alex Rios was 2-for-4 with a double while Scott Rolen and Adam Lind both homered for the Blue Jays.
Toronto took two of three from the Reds the last time these teams met back in 2003.
