Arizona Diamondbacks (40-37) at Boston Red Sox (47-32), 7:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to build off their impressive win over the Boston Red Sox in the opener of this series tonight, when both clubs resume a three-game interleague set from Fenway Park.

In Monday's 2-1 victory over the defending World Series champion Red Sox, Arizona starter Dan Haren kept Boston's bats in check with seven shutout innings and won his second consecutive start after allowing just two hits and a walk, while striking out five batters.

Brandon Lyon closed the door with a perfect ninth to nail down his 16th save for Arizona, which snapped a three-game losing streak. The NL West-leading D'Backs were coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Twins. Chris Snyder had the other RBI in the win. Outfielder Eric Byrnes was activated from the disabled list Monday, but went 0-for-5 at the plate.

The D'Backs, who are four games ahead of Los Angeles in the division and won for just seventh time in their last 24 road games, are 1-3 so far on a nine- game road trip. They are 16-22 away from the desert this season.

Doug Davis gets the nod for Arizona this evening, and is 2-3 with a 3.65 earned run average in eight starts this season. Davis has been struggling in his last five starts, going 0-2 with three no-decisions. In his most recent outing on Thursday versus Oakland, Davis pitched six strong innings of one-run ball for a no-decision in a 2-1 victory over the A's.

The lefty, who is winless since May 23, owns a 3-2 record with a 3.78 ERA in six career appearances (five starts) against the Red Sox.

Boston is not doing so well on its six-game homestand, as it is just 1-3 on the residency. After salvaging the finale of a three-game series versus the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend, the American League East-leading Red Sox were back to their losing ways on Monday. Boston ace Josh Beckett allowed just two runs on five hits and struck out eight batters to absorb the loss.

J.D. Drew had Boston's only RBI in a losing cause. The Red Sox are 29-10 in Beantown this season and sit one game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the division standings.

Rookie Justin Masterson will handle pitching duties this evening, and will put his perfect home record on the line. Masterson is 3-0 with a 2.59 earned run average in four trips to the Fenway mound, but hasn't pitched there since a June 8 win over Seattle. He gave up just one run in six frames of that game.

Masterson last toed the rubber on Wednesday in a 7-4 victory at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park, hurling five innings and giving up a pair of runs on four hits against the Phillies. The right-handed San Diego State product is 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA in six overall outings this season. He will face Arizona for the first time in his career.

Boston won two of three games at Arizona last season from June 8-10. The D'Backs swept a three-game series in Beantown in the previous matchup during the 2002 campaign. That was Arizona's only trip to Fenway Park.

Arizona is 6-7 against the American League this season, while the Red Sox own an 8-5 mark versus the Senior Circuit.
