(Sports Network) - Ben Sheets is pitching his way to a spot on the NL All-Star roster with the performance he has been putting forth so far this season. Tonight, Sheets will lead the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.
Sheets has won two straight starts and is 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA over the previous six trips to the mound. In his last appearances on Wednesday versus Toronto, Sheets limited the Blue Jays to a pair of runs and four hits in six innings of work.
The tall right-hander, who is 5-0 with a 2.62 ERA in nine road starts this season, has enjoyed success throughout his career against Atlanta. Sheets is 8-3 with two complete games and a 4.80 ERA in 11 career starts.
Taking the ball for the Braves on Monday will be Jo-Jo Reyes, who is 1-3 over his previous four decisions. Reyes last toed the rubber on June 18 at Texas, allowing two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings of a 5-2 victory for the no-decision.
Reyes, a left-hander, has never faced Milwaukee in his career. He is 3-4 with a 4.05 earned run average in 10 starts this season.
