(Sports Network) - San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum will put his unblemished road mark on the line this afternoon, when the Giants wrap up a three-game interleague series against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
Lincecum is 6-0 with a 1.47 earned run average in eight games (seven starts) as the visitor this season. He is 4-0 in his last eight outings overall, with the Giants going 6-2 in that span, and has posted back-to-back no decisions. In his last time out on June 16 versus Detroit, Lincecum gave up a season-high four runs on six hits in seven innings of an 8-6 victory.
The young right-hander has never faced Kansas City in his career.
After winning the opener of this series by a 9-4 score on Friday, the Giants dropped a 5-3 decision in the second installment on Saturday. Kevin Correia took the loss after his five innings of work, in which he surrendered three runs on six hits and four walks.
Bengie Molina hit a pair of sacrifice flies for San Francisco, which lost for the eighth time in 11 tries and fell to 1-1 on a nine-game road trip. The Giants are 18-19 away from the bay this season.
Kansas City has won six of its last seven games and improved to 1-1 on a nine- game homestand. It is also 14-19 as the host in 2008.
Mike Aviles went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in to lead the Royals last night. Jose Guillen had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer, and starting pitcher Gil Meche recorded the victory. Meche gave up two runs -- one earned -- on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. He also struck out seven.
Taking the ball for the Royals on Sunday will be Kyle Davies, who is 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA in four starts this season. Davies last pitched on June 17 at St. Louis and earned the win with seven strong innings of one-run ball. He also permitted five hits in the 2-1 triumph at Busch Stadium.
The righty faced San Francisco once in his career on April 7 as a member of the Atlanta Braves. Davies did not factor in the decision of a 14-6 beating of the Giants after he allowed three runs in five innings of work.
San Francisco and Kansas City are meeting for the first time since the Royals won two of three games by the Bay in 2005. Kansas City is 5-3 in its eight matchups with the Giants and 8-3 versus the National League this season.
The Giants are just 2-9 in interleague play in 2008.
