San Diego Padres (31-39) at Cleveland Indians (31-37), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Lefty C.C. Sabathia continues what's been a difficult final season on his current contract when the Cleveland Indians host the San Diego Padres in the third and final game of their three-game interleague series at Progressive Field.

The AL's reigning Cy Young Award winner, Sabathia won 19 games last season with a 3.21 earned run average for the playoff-bound Indians in 2007. He entered 2008 in what was shaping up to be an audition before pursuing a big- money deal in the upcoming offseason.

However, he stumbled from the gate at 1-5 and is just 3-3 since, though, he did score a 1-0 win over Minnesota on June 10, allowing five hits over nine innings with five strikeouts that improved his season record to 4-8.

Sabathia won his lone career start against the Padres, scattering 10 hits and allowing two runs in 7 2/3 innings, with four strikeouts and no walks.

Meanwhile, veteran right-hander Greg Maddux seeks his first win since May 10 against Colorado.

The two-decade veteran defeated the Rockies, 3-2, after giving up three hits and an unearned run in six innings, earning career triumph No. 350.

He is 0-1 with five no-decisions in six starts since, allowing 36 hits and 11 runs in 33 2/3 innings.

Maddux lost his lone career start against Cleveland, allowing seven hits and four runs in 7 1/3 innings.

On Saturday, Tony Clark's walk pushed in the winning run in the 10th inning, and Kevin Kouzmanoff put the game out of reach with a grand slam as San Diego scored eight unanswered runs to pull out an 8-3 win over the Indians.

Justin Huber and Jody Gerut each homered for the Padres, winners in eight of their last 10.

Heath Bell (4-3) picked up the win after striking out five over two scoreless innings in relief of Cha Seung Baek, who recovered from a rough first inning to allow three runs on two hits in seven frames.

Shin-Soo Choo had an RBI double for the Indians, who suffered just their second loss in their last six games. Ryan Garko and Jhonny Peralta each knocked in a run, but the Tribe managed just four hits for the game.

Edward Mujica (0-1) was touched for five runs on three hits in the 10th to take the loss in relief of Cliff Lee, who held the Padres to two runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out six without issuing a walk.

Cleveland is 5-3 lifetime against the Padres and took two of three tests from San Diego at Progressive Field during the 2003 season.
