(Sports Network) - Phenom Edinson Volquez takes aim at win No. 10 this evening when the Cincinnati Reds play the second if three interleague games against the Boston Red Sox at Great American Ball Park.

Volquez, acquired from Texas this winter for the equally sensational Josh Hamilton, has been incredible for the Reds, posting a 9-2 mark to go along with a sparkling 1.56 earned run average. The 24-year-old righty's latest victory came on Monday against Florida, as he allowed three runs and three hits in six innings for his second straight win,

This will be his first-ever appearance against the Red Sox.

Boston will counter with 41-year-old right-hander Tim Wakefield, who is 4-4 with a 4.33 ERA this season. Wakefield earned his first win in six starts on Saturday against Seattle, surrendering two runs and five hits in seven innings.

Wakefield has faced the Reds just twice over the course of his 15-year career, going 1-1 against them with a 7.80 ERA.

In the opener of this set on Friday, Aaron Harang pitched seven strong innings to help Cincinnati to a 3-1 win. Jay Bruce and Adam Dunn each hit solo home runs for the Reds, who have won their last two games.

Harang (3-9), who had lost his last four decisions, gave up just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Manny Ramirez drove in the lone run while Justin Masterson (3-1) was handed the loss as he gave up three runs on four hits with three walks and a career- high nine strikeouts for the Red Sox, who had won four of five coming into the series.

The only other regular-season series between these clubs took place at Fenway Park from June 13-15, 2005. The Red Sox won all three games from Cincinnati and outscored the Reds by a 23-4 margin.

Of course, Boston's last visit to Cincinnati came during Game 5 of the 1975 World Series, won by the Reds in seven games.
