(Sports Network) - Brett Myers hasn't been the beneficiary of much run support lately from the offensive-minded Philadelphia Phillies. Tonight, Myers hopes the bats will be alive when he takes the hill in the first of three straight games against the NL East-rival Florida Marlins at Dolphin Stadium.
Myers has lost six of his last seven decisions to fall to 3-7 with a 5.13 earned run average in 13 starts this season. In his last outing on June 4 versus Cincinnati, Myers carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before allowing one run after 7 1/3 frames of a 2-0 loss.
The right-hander, who is 0-5 with a 7.15 ERA in six road starts this season, has pitched at least six innings in each of his previous four starts. He has not allowed more than four runs in each of his past four starts as well.
Myers defeated Florida on May 30, hurling eight solid innings of three-run ball in a 12-3 victory. In 25 career appearances (19 starts) against the Marlins, Myers is 6-7 with a 4.89 earned run average.
Philadelphia's hot bats are coming off a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field to open a nine-game road trip. The Phillies broke out the brooms with Sunday's 6-3 victory over the Braves, as Ryan Howard finished with three doubles and four runs batted in to lead the way. Shane Victorino also collected three hits and drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning for Philadelphia, which has won four in a row, eight of 10 and 15 of its last 19 games.
Adam Eaton continued his recent good play, as the starter gave up three runs on eight hits in six innings for the no-decision. Chad Durbin picked up the win after throwing two scoreless innings of relief, while Brad Lidge registered his 17th save in as many chances.
The NL East-leading Phillies, who are four games ahead of Florida in the division standings, are 18-13 away from home this season and will also visit the St. Louis Cardinals for three games at Busch Stadium.
Florida will resume its seven-game homestand tonight and opened the South Beach stay by splitting four games versus the Cincinnati Reds. In Monday's series finale, Ken Griffey Jr. belted the 600th home run of his career to lead the Reds to a 9-4 victory.
Mark Hendrickson gave up six runs -- five earned -- on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 2 1/3 frames to absorb the loss. The southpaw also lost to Edinson Volquez and the Reds on May 13 and dropped his third straight start.
Jeremy Hermida drove in a pair of runs for the Marlins, who committed three errors and lost for the ninth time in 13 overall tries. Florida is 20-14 at Dolphin Stadium this season.
Getting the nod for the Fish this evening will be Ricky Nolasco, who is 5-4 with a 5.05 earned run average in 13 games (11 starts) this season.
Nolasco had a streak of four consecutive winning decisions come to an end his last time out on June 5 at Atlanta. He lasted 5 2/3 innings and yielded seven runs on 12 hits during a 7-5 setback from Turner Field.
The right-hander beat the Phils on May 31 at Citizens Bank Park, where he limited Philadelphia to a pair of runs in 6 2/3 frames of a 7-3 victory. Nolasco is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in six career appearances (three starts) against the Phillies.
Philadelphia won two of three games against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park from May 30 - June 1. Both teams won nine games in last season's series.
