(Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox turned things around last time they faced the Baltimore Orioles. This evening, the Red Sox will try to continue their hot play against their division rival in the opener of a three-game series at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox had lost five of six before beginning a four-game set in Baltimore on May 30. Boston took the first three games of that series before dropping the finale, the start of its recent winning run. Including that series at Camden Yards, the Red Sox have won eight of their last 10 and are a game in front of Tampa Bay for first place in the American League East.

Manny Ramirez especially got hot against Baltimore. Ramirez has homered in his last three tests against the O's and is hitting .345 (10-for-29) with six RBI and six runs scored against the club this season.

Ramirez is also in the midst of a 13-game hitting streak he extended with a single in Sunday's win over Seattle. Ramirez is batting .380 (19-for-50) over his run with six homers -- including the 500th of his career -- and 19 RBI and 12 runs scored.

However, it was J.D. Drew who accounted for the offense on Sunday, as the outfielder had a homer and drove in two runs in the 2-1 victory. Justin Masterson (3-0) allowed just one runs over six innings to get the win.

Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury sat out his third straight test due to a wrist injury suffered on Thursday, but could return tonight.

Ellsbury has not played since suffering a wrist injury on Thursday. He is hitting .440 (11-for-25) against Baltimore this season.

Josh Beckett starts for Boston and defeated Tampa Bay his last time out. He held the Rays to just one run on seven hits over six innings on Wednesday, improving to 6-4 with a 4.07 earned run average this year.

Beckett got a no-decision when he faced the Orioles on May 30 despite 10 strikeouts, and is 4-2 with a 3.48 ERA in eight career starts against them.

The 28-year-old right-hander is a perfect 4-0 with a 4.55 ERA in four starts at Fenway Park this year.

Daniel Cabrera faced Beckett on May 30 and also got a no-decision. The Baltimore hurler gave up two runs on six hits that day, and also defeated the Red Sox on May 14.

In his career, Cabrera is only 2-9 with a 6.82 ERA in 13 career starts versus Boston. The righty has struggled at Fenway Park, where he is 0-3 in four outings.

Cabrera is winless in his last three overall outings and was defeated by Minnesota last time out. He gave up six runs on eight hits in six frames of action on Wednesday, though he didn't walk a batter for the third time in his last five starts. The 27-year-old is 5-2 with a 3.98 ERA this year.

Ellsbury has five hits in eight at-bats this year against Cabrera, while Ramirez is hitting .250 (4-for-16) with three RBI in his career against him.

The Orioles have rebounded a bit since their set with Boston, as the club has won four of its six games so far on a nine-game road trip. However, Baltimore failed to sweep Toronto on Sunday, falling 5-4 to the Blue Jays.

Luke Scott had two homers and three RBI to pace the Orioles. Scott has done well against Beckett this year, going 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI against him.

Scott is hitting .474 (9-for-19) with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored n six games versus Boston this year. Nick Markakis, who leads the O's with a .287 batting average this year, is hitting .320 (8-for-25) against the Red Sox in 2008.

Baltimore and Boston have split six games so far this year, though the clubs are meeting at Fenway Park for the first time this season. The Red Sox won six of nine against the O's at home last year.
