(Sports Network) - Cliff Lee has been one of the hottest pitchers in the majors this season. Tonight, the Cleveland Indians hurler will try to keep that distinction when he leads his team against the Detroit Tigers in the finale of a four-game series from Comerica Park.

Lee has won three straight starts to improve to 9-1 with a 2.45 earned run average in 11 outings this season. He needed some run support to record his ninth win Wednesday at Texas, as he surrendered six runs and nine hits in five innings of work.

The left-hander, who is 6-1 in seven road starts in 2008, hasn't fared too well in his career against the Tigers. Lee is 3-6 with a 5.23 ERA in 14 career appearances in this series, having dropped his past five decisions versus Detroit.

Cleveland is 4-6 so far on an 11-game road trip and owns a 12-19 mark away from Progressive Field this season. After winning the opener of this series on Friday, the Tribe has lost back-to-back games, including Sunday's 5-2 setback.

Shin-Soo Choo scored a run and had a double, the only extra-base hit for Cleveland. Grady Sizemore and Ryan Garko had a hit and an RBI each in defeat, while Tribe starter Jeremy Sowers absorbed the loss after he was touched for five runs on seven hits in four innings of work.

Placido Polanco went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs and Miguel Cabrera also had two hits along with one RBI for the Tigers, who have won two in a row on the heels of a four-game skid. Curtis Granderson belted a solo home run in the second inning and Ivan Rodriguez drove in Detroit's other run.

Tigers starter Armando Galarraga threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits to collect the win. Galarraga has now tossed at least five innings in each of his nine starts this season. Todd Jones earned his 10th save of the year with a perfect ninth, moving him into a tie with former Toronto great Tom Henke (311) for 16th place on the all-time list.

On Monday, Dontrelle Willis will make his second start for Detroit since coming off of the disabled list with a hyperextended right knee in late May. The left-hander last pitched Tuesday at Oakland and permitted a pair of hits over four scoreless innings during Detroit's 5-4, 11-inning loss.

The high-kicking Willis is 0-1 with a 2.25 earned run average in two career starts against the Indians.

These teams split a two-game set at Cleveland's Progressive Field back in April. The Indians won 12 of 18 matchups with the Tigers en route to the 2007 AL Central title, including six of nine tilts in the Motor City.
