Cleveland Indians (28-34) at Detroit Tigers (25-36), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - With Jeremy Bonderman headed for the disabled list the Detroit Tigers will turn to Armando Galarraga to square off against the Cleveland Indians in the third contest of a four-game set at Comerica Park.

Bonderman could miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his axillary vein. Bonderman will undergo further examination of the condition at a later date, but the Tigers doubt he will be able to return this season.

Fortunately, Detroit can turn to Galarraga, who has plenty of experience this season. The 26-year-old is 4-2 with a 3.76 ERA on the year. The right-hander did not have much success the last time he was on the mound, as he was hammered by the Athletics. In the 5-4 setback to Oakland, Galarraga came in relief for Dontrelle Willis and surrendered three runs on one hit and two walks in just three innings of work.

Galarraga made his first-ever start against the Indians earlier this season, and did a commendable job. In the 13-2 victory over Cleveland, he limited the Tribe to just two runs on one hit, while striking out six batters in 6 2/3 innings of work.

Just like their counterpart, the Indians will have to turn to a young hurler to step in for a fallen veteran. Jake Westbrook, who was expected to start this afternoon, will also be lost for the season. Westbrook was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with right elbow inflammation and will now need surgery to replace an elbow ligament.

Taking the hill in Westbrook's place will be Jeremy Sowers. Sowers has started twice this year, but is just 0-0 with a lackluster 5.23 ERA. Sower's last start came on May 16th, as the southpaw squared off against Cincinnati. In the 4-3 setback, the 25-year-old allowed three runs on five hits in five innings of work. Despite the mediocre performance, Sowers did not factor in the decision.

Yesterday, Edgar Renteria capped a six-run eighth inning with a grand slam, as the Tigers notched an 8-4 come-from-behind win over Indians.

Renteria had three hits and Marcus Thames had two hits, including the game- tying home run. Carlos Guillen added a two-run homer for Detroit, which snapped a four-game skid.

Kenny Rogers pitched well, allowing three runs - one earned - on five hits and two walks over seven innings. Zach Miner (3-3) pitched 1 2/3 innings for the win and Todd Jones picked up his ninth save.

Aaron Laffey pitched a superb 6 2/3 innings, surrendering only two runs on Guillen's homer, on six hits and two walks for Cleveland, which has split its last six games. Casey Blake had two hits, scoring twice for the Tribe.

Masa Kobayashi (3-3), who came into the game in the seventh, opened the eighth by giving up a game-tying home run to Thames. Magglio Ordonez followed with a line-double to right and Rafael Betancourt was called in to take over on the mound, but surrendered an RBI single to Miguel Cabrera followed by a single to Guillen. A sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out.

Renteria then broke the game wide open, blasting a grand slam to left-center for an 8-3 lead.

These teams split a two-game set at Cleveland's Progressive Field back in April. The Indians won 12 of 18 matchups with the Tigers en route to the 2007 AL Central title, including six of nine tilts in the Motor City.
