(Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles will try to collect their fourth consecutive victory when they take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the finale of a three-game set at the Roger Centre.
The Orioles will send their young hurler to the hill today in Radhames Liz. Liz was called up on June 3rd and will be making his second start of the season. Against Minnesota earlier this week, the hard throwing right-hander tossed 5 1/3 innings, holding the Twins to just two runs on four hits, while striking out four batters.
The Blue Jays will have a more reliable source this afternoon, as Roy Halladay will head to the hill trying to capture his fourth consecutive victory, and sixth in his last eight starts.
The last time Halladay was on the mound, he led Toronto to a 9-3 win over New York. In the victory the 31-year-old surrendered just two runs on six hits in six innings of work.
Halladay has done a tremendous job at home this season, posting a 3-1 ledger in four starts. With a 2.70 ERA at the Rogers Centre, Halladay has tossed two complete games and has held the opposition to just 10 runs in 33 1/3 innings of work.
Throughout his career, the veteran right-hander has had his way with the Orioles. In 26 appearances against Baltimore, Halladay has an amazing 16-4 record with a 2.84 ERA.
On Saturday, Jeremy Guthrie pitched seven strong innings and Jay Payton had five RBI, as the Orioles beat the Blue Jays 9-5.
Guthrie (3-6) allowed one run on six hits, striking out six batters while Payton was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Nick Markakis was also 3- for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
Baltimore, which last swept the Jays last April, has won five of its last six.
A.J. Burnett (5-6) went 4 1/3 innings allowing eight runs on 10 hits and four walks for the Jays. Vernon Wells was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first game back from the disabled list for Toronto, which has lost four straight and six of seven.
The Blue Jays are a mediocre 15-13 at home this season, but at the same time Baltimore has struggled on the road, recording a mere 14-19 ledger.
