Los Angeles Dodgers (26-25) at Chicago Cubs (31-21), 8:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Red-hot Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano takes aim at his eighth win of the season tonight, when his club shoots for a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field.

Zambrano is unbeaten over his last eight starts (6-0), with the Cubs going 6-2 over that span. He last pitched on Friday at Pittsburgh and yielded just a pair of runs and six hits over seven innings of a 12-3 victory.

The fiery right-hander, who is 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA in seven home starts this season, is 11 wins shy of 100 for his career (89-56). Zambrano also leads all pitchers with 11 hits and is tied for the lead among NL pitchers with four runs batted in and four runs scored.

Zambrano is 2-2 with a 3.35 earned run average over 10 career appearances (6 starts) against Los Angeles.

Chicago will need Zambrano's best today with a chance for a sweep of the Dodgers. The last time the Cubs swept Los Angeles at Wrigley Field was May of 2001.

In Tuesday's second straight 3-1 victory over LA, Kosuke Fukudome finished with two hits and highlighted a decisive three-run seventh inning with an RBI double. Aramis Ramirez added two hits and knocked in the go-ahead run for the NL Central-leading Cubs, who have won eight of their last 13 games. Chicago is 1 1/2 games ahead of both Houston and St. Louis in the division standings.

Cubs starter Sean Gallagher earned the win, tossing seven innings of one-run ball and allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out three. Kerry Wood recorded his 12th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Chicago is 2-0 on a seven-game homestand versus Los Angeles and Colorado and 21-8 in the Windy City this season.

Los Angeles has dropped four of its last five games following yesterday's defeat. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda was saddled with the loss for the Dodgers despite allowing two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings of work.

Andre Ethier went 2-for-3 and Blake DeWitt knocked in the lone run for Los Angeles. The Dodgers are winless so far on their seven-game road trip against the Cubs and Mets.

Los Angeles will send struggling pitcher Derek Lowe to the mound on Wednesday, and he has lost two straight starts to fall to 0-4 over his last six trips to the mound.

Lowe last pitched on Friday versus St. Louis in a 2-1 loss, allowing two runs and five hits in seven frames. Before that, he surrendered seven runs and 10 hits through five innings of a 10-2 setback at the Angels.

The right-hander, who is 0-3 with a 6.61 earned run average in six road starts in 2008, owns a 1-1 mark with a 3.72 ERA in six career games against the Cubs.

Los Angeles went 5-2 against Chicago last season, with a 3-1 mark at Wrigley Field. The Cubs are 12-9 over the past 21 matchups in this series.
