(Sports Network) - Wandy Rodriguez returns from the disabled list tonight when the Houston Astros continue their three-game series with the St.Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
Rodriguez, who hasn't pitched since April 19 because of a strained left groin, was 1-0 with a 2.31 earned run average in four starts for Houston this season before hitting the disabled list. Rodriguez threw 78 pitches and gave up a run and four hits in a rehab start for Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday.
The 29-year-old righty is 1-4 with a 5.25 ERA in seven games (six starts) against the Cards.
St. Louis will counter with right-hander Adam Wainwright, who is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA in his five home starts this season. Wainwright picked up a road win on Friday in Los Angeles, as he held the Dodgers to a run and five hits in seven innings to run his overall record to 4-2, while lowering his ERA to 3.06.
Wainwright defeated the Astros earlier in the season and is 3-0 lifetime against them with a 2.41 ERA in 10 games, four of which have been starts.
In the opener of this set on Tuesday, Hunter Pence had his first career five- hit game and drove in a pair of runs, leading Houston to an 8-2 win. Miguel Tejada belted a two-run home run for the Astros, winners in three of their last four.
Lance Berkman, who is hitting .483 this month, also scored three times in the win.
Shawn Chacon (2-0) hurled seven solid innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out seven to earn the victory.
Albert Pujols went 4-for-4 with a solo homer for the Cardinals, who have dropped two straight after a three-game win streak. Brian Barton also homered in the losing effort.
Braden Looper (6-4) was roughed up in the loss, surrendering eight runs -- seven earned -- on nine hits and three walks in 4 1/3 frames.
St. Louis has won four of seven against the Astros this season and has won six of the last nine matchups in the series.
