Detroit Tigers (21-30) at LA Angels of Anaheim (31-22), 10:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - After engaging in a fierce pitcher's duel in Monday's series opener, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Detroit Tigers resume a three-game set tonight at Angel Stadium.

Both Anaheim's Jon Garland and the Tigers' Kenny Rogers were on their games last night, as neither hurler surrendered a run during their time on the mound. Both starting pitchers also did not factor in the final outcome of the contest, which the Angels won by a 1-0 count on a bases-loaded walk issued to Garret Anderson in the bottom of the 12th inning.

Maicer Izturis opened Anaheim's portion of the 12th with a single off Freddy Dolsi and moved to third two batters later on a base hit by Vladimir Guerrero. Torii Hunter was then intentionally walked to load the bases and set up a double-play situation, but new reliever Bobby Seay threw four straight balls to Anderson to end the game.

Garland yielded just four hits and struck out five before exiting after 7 1/3 innings, while Rogers held the Angels to five hits and walked just one over seven shutout frames.

Jose Arrendondo (1-0) earned his first major league victory by throwing two perfect innings for the American League West-leading Angels, who prevailed despite stranding 15 baserunners and won their third straight game.

Dolsi (0-1) worked 2 1/3 innings and was charged with the one run allowed on three hits and a pair of walks.

The Tigers were shut out for a major league-leading eighth time this season and could find runs hard to come by again tonight, with Ervin Santana slated to take the mound for the Angels.

Santana is 2-1 with an excellent 2.36 earned run average in four home starts this year and sports an outstanding 27-10 career mark along with a 3.07 ERA at Angel Stadium. On the flip side, the 25-year-old, who won his first six decisions of 2008, has been going through a rough stretch of late.

Over his last three starts, Santana has recorded two losses and a no-decision while permitting 13 runs and 23 hits over a span of 17 2/3 innings. The right- hander is coming off a defeat at Toronto on Thursday in which he gave up four runs and nine hits in six innings of work.

Santana does own a win over the Tigers this season, however. That came on April 25 at Tiger Stadium, with the Dominican native hurling 6 1/3 innings of three-run ball to help Anaheim to a 4-3 decision.

In five career starts against Detroit, Santana is 3-2 with a 5.46 ERA.

The Tigers will send out Jeremy Bonderman, who seeks to win back-to-back starts for the first time since June of last season.

The inconsistent right-hander was sharp in Detroit's 9-2 triumph over Seattle on Thursday, as Bonderman held the Mariners to two runs and scattered eight hits over six innings. That snapped a string of three straight winless outings for the 25-year-old and improved him to 3-4 with a 4.58 ERA on the year.

Bonderman has a 2-1 record and a solid 3.04 ERA in four road starts this season. He is 3-3 with a 4.97 ERA through nine lifetime matchups with the Angels.

The Angels have emerged victorious in six of their last seven encounters with Detroit and took two of three from the Tigers at Comerica Park last month. Detroit was swept in a three-game series during their last visit to Angel Stadium, which took place last July.
