Cincinnati Reds (23-27) at San Diego Padres (18-33), 4:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Ken Griffey Jr. tries to move one step closer to the magical 600 home run mark when the Cincinnati Reds conclude their four-game series with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

However, he will have to do so against another future Hall of Famer in right- hander Greg Maddux, who has owned the Reds over the course of his illustrious career. Maddux has posted a 24-16 lifetime mark against them with a 3.46 earned run average in 53 starts.

Maddux has also won his last six starts in the series, pitching to a 2.08 ERA in the process.

The 42-year-old right-hander, though, has just one win over his last seven starts and is 3-4 on the season with a 3.94 ERA. Maddux received a no-decision on Tuesday against St. Louis, giving up two runs and five hits in five innings of his team's 3-2 win.

In the third game of this series on Saturday, Joey Votto clubbed a three-run homer, lifting Cincinnati to a 7-2 win. Votto drove in four runs for the Reds, who have won eight of their last 12 contests.

Griffey though, finished 1-for-5, and is still just two home runs shy of becoming the sixth player in league history to launch 600. When he hits his next two, he will join a list that includes three Hall-of-Famers in Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and Willie Mays, as well as Sammy Sosa and the majors' all- time home run king, Barry Bonds.

Bronson Arroyo (3-4) gave up two runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win for the Reds. The right-hander walked one and struck out a season- high-tying nine batters.

Wilfredo Ledezma (0-2) lasted only three innings for the Padres and was tagged for five runs on five hits.

Paul McAnulty knocked in both runs, while Kevin Kouzmanoff had two hits and scored a run for San Diego, which has dropped six of its last eight games.

Cincinnati will pin its hopes today on righty Matt Belisle, who is 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA. Belisle lost his third straight start on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as he yielded three runs and seven hits in six innings.

Belisle has faced the Friars six times (two starts) and is 0-2 with an 8.56 ERA.

San Diego has won four of six against Cincinnati in each of the last two seasons.
