Seattle Mariners (18-31) at New York Yankees (23-25), 1:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New York Yankees gun for their season-high fourth straight win today, as they continue a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners in the Bronx.

Since dropping four games in a row, the Yankees have reeled off three consecutive victories, including a convincing 13-2 triumph over the Mariners last night.

Shelley Duncan belted a three-run homer, and Robinson Cano finished 2-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead New York in the victory on Friday. Bobby Abreu, Hideki Matsui and Chad Moeller added two RBI apiece for the Yankees, while Jason Giambi went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Andy Pettitte (4-5) allowed just two runs on eight hits in six innings. The veteran left-hander, who struck out nine without walking a batter, halted a personal four-game losing streak.

Adrian Beltre was 3-for-3 with an RBI double for the reeling Mariners, who have lost four straight and remain in the basement of the AL West. Yuniesky Betancourt also had an RBI for Seattle.

Erik Bedard (3-3) was touched for nine runs on eight hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work en route to the loss.

The Mariners are hoping for a better effort from Carlos Silva, as he gets the nod this afternoon. The veteran was moved up a day to take the place of Felix Hernandez, who was removed from the rotation due to soreness in his right leg.

Silva is winless in his last six starts, going 0-3 during that stretch. On Tuesday, he yielded seven earned runs on nine hits in four innings of a 12-8 loss to the Detroit Tigers. He is 3-3 on the season with a 4.91 ERA.

In five career starts against the Yankees, Silva is 1-3 with a whopping 9.62 ERA. The right-hander faced New York at Yankee Stadium on May 4th and was rocked for eight earned runs and 11 hits in just three innings of work.

Countering for the Yankees will be Mike Mussina, who had a personal five-game winning streak stopped in a 12-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. In that game, he managed to get only two batters out while allowing a season-high seven runs - one earned - and five hits to drop him to 6-4 on the season to go along with a 4.11 ERA.

The veteran right-hander has made six starts at home this season, posting an even 3-3 mark with a 4.78 ERA.

Mussina has had a great deal of success against the Mariners over his career, going 18-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 27 starts. He is a perfect 7-0 with a 2.95 ERA in his last nine starts against Seattle. On May 3rd, Mussina limited the Mariners to just one earned run over six strong innings of a 6-1 victory.

The Yankees swept a three-game set with the Mariners at home in early May and have won six straight against Seattle, all at home.
