Minnesota Twins (21-21) at Colorado Rockies (16-27), 3:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Tied for the fewest wins in all of baseball entering Sunday's action, the Colorado Rockies continue a lengthy nine-game homestand this afternoon as they close out a three-game interleague set versus the Minnesota Twins at Coors Field.

Saturday's outing saw the Rockies score single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to secure a slim 3-2 win over Minnesota and snap a six-game slide in the process.

In the eighth inning it was Ryan Spilborghs who drove in the winning run with a pinch-hit single. Jeff Baker doubled twice and scored two runs for the Rockies, while Willy Taveras went 2-for-4 and knocked in a run and Garrett Atkins added a sacrifice fly.

Matt Herges gave up two runs on three hits in two innings, yet still earned the win in relief of Greg Reynolds, who shut out the Twins over the first six innings with three-hit ball in just his second major league start. Brian Fuentes worked out of trouble in the ninth for his fifth save.

Delmon Young finished up 2-for-4 and scored a run for the Twins, losers in four of their last five and who now trail both Chicago and Cleveland in the AL Central standings. Brendan Harris and starting pitcher Livan Hernandez each drove in a run, and Hernandez retired the first 15 hitters he faced, but suffered the setback after being charged with three runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 frames.

Young right-hander Kevin Slowey gets the start for the Twins this afternoon, shooting for his first win of 2008 as he faces Colorado for the first time in his brief career. Slowey, who spent nearly a month on the DL early in the season, has dropped all three of his appearances this year.

Tuesday's outing versus Toronto saw the Texas native surrender three runs on five hits, while striking out five, over 5 2/3 innings of what became a 5-3 loss at home.

Meanwhile, Colorado is hoping that Jeff Francis can end his winless streak and earn his first victory of this season as well.

Francis, who is making his first-ever appearance against the Twins in this his fifth major league season, has watched his team bow in all but two of his seven starts this year. Tuesday saw the 27-year old get bombarded with 13 hits and eight earned runs through 4 2/3 innings against Arizona on the road. It was the second time this season that Francis has allowed double-digit hits in one of his starts.

As a unit the Twins have done well putting the ball in play, placing fifth in the AL with a .263 batting average over 42 games, but in terms of power the squad has yet to find its stroke, currently second-to-last in the league with a mere 23 home runs.

The pitching staff for Minnesota has done little to help the cause, allowing opponents to bat .274 thus far, which is tied for the second-highest mark in the AL at the moment.

Playing at Coors Field continues to give Colorado pitchers fits, the squad now sporting an unsightly 4.71 ERA that is better than only Pittsburgh in the National League. It doesn't help that the Rockies are also the only team in the NL still without a shutout.

From an offensive standpoint, the Rockies are doing little to aid the pitching staff, currently second-to-last in home runs with 28. Although, the squad is second from the top with 94 doubles and one of only five teams in the league with double-digit triples (10).

Minnesota is a solid 107-87 all-time in interleague games, while the Rockies have posted a 77-88 overall mark versus the AL over the years.
