(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers haven't had much luck in Anaheim during the Freeway Series, but will try to build off a rare victory there when they conclude a three-game series this afternoon with the Los Angeles Angels.
The Dodgers, who lost five of six versus the Angels last year, including all three road tests, had lost six straight at Angel Stadium before a 6-3 victory on Saturday.
Blake DeWitt hit a two-run homer, while Russell Martin went 3-for-4 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to six games. Andre Ethier and Luis Maza each drove in a run for the Dodgers, who have won three of their last four games.
James Loney, though, went 0-for-5 in the game to halt a nine-game hitting streak. He was hitting .316 over that run.
Chan Ho Park got the start, his first of the year, but lasted only four innings and gave up two runs -- one earned -- on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Hong-Chih Kuo (3-1) got the win as he pitched four scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out four.
Garret Anderson went 3-for-4 with a run scored and has now hit safely in seven consecutive games, while Ervin Santana (6-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he was charged with four runs on five hits in six innings for the Angels, who have dropped three of four.
Jered Weaver seems to have settled down after a pair of shaky outings and starts today for the Angels. Weaver gave up a total of 12 runs and 16 hits over 10 1/3 innings of consecutive losses to Baltimore and Kansas City, but dominated the White Sox on Tuesday.
At home versus Chicago, the 25-year-old gave up just a single and two walks over seven innings while fanning six. However, he threw 109 innings before exiting and left with the game scoreless, getting a no-decision. The Angels then plated two runs in the eighth to win the game.
The right-handed Weaver is 2-0 with a 1.50 earned run average in two career starts against the Dodgers, with both victories coming last season.
Brad Penny was to start today's finale for the Dodgers, but had his scheduled outing scratched due to right arm tightness. Instead, Derek Lowe will pitch on three days' rest.
Lowe was last in action on Wednesday versus the Brewers and he gave up four runs on six hits over six innings in a no-decision to remain winless over his last four starts (0-2). He did strikeout six batters and is 2-3 on the season with a 4.62 earned run average.
The right-hander is still seeking his first road win of the season, as he is 0-2 this year in five starts away from home with a 5.47 ERA.
In 27 outings against the Angels, 11 of those starts, Lowe is 6-5 with a 2.86 ERA and six saves. He split two decisions against them last year and posted a complete-game win at home while dropping his May 20 start at Angel Stadium.
The Dodgers were 5-10 in interleague play last season, while the Angels finished 14-4 against the Senior Circuit.
