Cleveland Indians (22-21) at Cincinnati Reds (20-23), 1:15 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Despite enjoying the longest winning streak in the majors entering play on Sunday, the Cincinnati Reds still find themselves buried in the National League Central standings as they close out a three-game interleague set versus in-state rival Cleveland at Great American Ball Park.

On Saturday the Reds trailed by a run in the ninth inning, but Adam Dunn changed all of that as he launched a three-run home run to give the home team the 4-2 victory. Brandon Phillips finished up 2-for-4 and drove in the other run for the Reds, while Jerry Hairston, Joey Votto and Edwin Encarnacion had a hit and a run scored each as well.

Bill Bray worked a scoreless inning in relief to earn the victory for the Reds behind Aaron Harang, who allowed a run on eight hits in seven frames.

The Indians, who are now a half game behind Chicago for the top spot in the AL Central, failed to take advantage of an outstanding outing by Fausto Carmona who gave up just a single run on four hits over the course of 7 1/3 innings. Ben Francisco went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a pair of runs scored for the Tribe, while Ryan Garko went 2-for-4 and knocked in a run as the squad dropped it's second in a row.

Although no one would have expected it at the onset of the season, today's series finale actually pits two of the top pitchers in the majors against each other, with Cliff Lee and Edinson Volquez battling it out on the mound.

Lee has been the story in the American League so far this season, sporting a perfect 6-0 record and a minuscule 0.67 ERA over the course of seven games. The lefty, who is 3-1 with a 5.60 ERA in his career versus the Reds, has notched 44 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings thus far, against a mere four walks.

On Monday the Arkansas native made it through nine innings for the second time this season, holding Toronto scoreless on seven hits and a pair of walks, but it was the Jays who picked up the 3-0 win. Luckily, Lee was not charged with the loss, keeping his personal record unblemished.

As for Cincinnati, their ace thus far appears to be Volquez, who entered the weekend with the top ERA in the NL at 1.12.

Volquez, who was slammed in his only previous appearance against the Indians with six earned runs in a mere 1 2/3 innings, has a career mark of 9-12 and an ERA of nearly five overall. The four-year veteran already has a career-high for wins in a season with six, the most recent of those coming on Tuesday in a 5-3 victory versus Florida.

The right-hander allowed just a single run on seven hits and a pair of walks, striking out five in six innings of work.

As Carmona showed on Saturday, Cleveland has one of the top pitching staffs in the majors through the first quarter of the season. The squad is tops in the AL with a 3.31 ERA, has already logged a league-best seven shutouts and is tied for first with four complete games from the starters.

On the other side, Cincinnati hurlers have had their troubles thus far, posting a collective 4.60 ERA, with the bullpen being given just nine save opportunities over 43 games.

Cincinnati is 70-89 all-time in interleague play, while the Indians own a solid 102-93 mark versus the National League.
