(Sports Network) - Lefty Cole Hamels will try for a fourth straight start without a loss tonight, when the Philadelphia Phillies host the Atlanta Braves in the finale of a three-game set between National League East Division rivals at Citizens Bank Park.
Hamels lost three off his first five decisions to begin 2008, but has since gone 2-0 with a no decision in three outings, beginning with a 7-4 victory over San Diego on April 29.
He's since faced San Francisco twice - once at home and once on the road - and combined to allow 13 hits and eight runs in 13 innings while the Phillies earned 6-5 and 7-4 wins on May 4 and 9, respectively.
The 24-year-old San Diego native is 3-2 in six career starts against the Braves with a 4.42 earned run average in 38 2/3 innings.
He'll be opposed by fellow southpaw Chuck James, who had a two-start win streak snapped in his last appearance.
James had beaten the Los Angeles Dodgers and Florida Marlins in succession on April 19 and 24 before dropping a 5-2 decision to the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday at PNC Park.
In that game, James allowed five hits and five runs in six innings, while walking four batters and striking out seven.
He is unbeaten in seven career appearances (6 starts) against the Phillies, going 2-0 with a 4.08 ERA in 35 1/3 innings.
On Wednesday, Tom Glavine picked up his first win of the season in his seventh start and the Braves hit three home runs in an 8-6 victory over the Phillies.
Glavine (1-1) lasted only 5 2/3 innings after hitting a rough patch in the sixth, in which he allowed four runs on four hits and two walks. He retired 15 of 16 batters through the first five innings and struck out four.
Chipper Jones was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and hit his 11th home run of the season to raise his major league-leading batting average to .418.
Brian McCann was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in, while Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson hit the other home runs for the Braves, who have won just two of their last six.
Phillies starter Brett Myers (2-4) never got on track, allowing eight runs (6 earned) in 4 1/3 innings to continue a five-start winless skid.
Myers allowed seven runs (6 earned) on the way to losing his last start to Arizona, and has now given up 15 runs - 12 earned - in his last 9 1/3 innings.
Chris Coste was 4-for-4 with four singles and scored two runs, while Chase Utley hit a two-run homer for the Phillies, who have now lost four of their last six. Ryan Howard added a solo shot in the setback.
The Phillies made things interesting in the ninth after Coste and pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs hit back-to-back singles with two outs and Jimmy Rollins ripped an RBI single to right.
Dobbs moved to third and Rollins stole second to put the tying run in scoring position, but Shane Victorino flied out deep to right to end the game.
Atlanta's Blaine Boyer pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run in recording the first save of his career.
Philadelphia split its 18 matchups with the Braves last season, but the Braves won five of the nine meetings at Citizens Bank Park.
