San Diego Padres (15-25) at Chicago Cubs (23-16), 8:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Jake Peavy has hit a rare snag and will try to get back on track tonight, when the pitcher's San Diego Padres resume a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Peavy is 0-2 with a 3.37 earned run average over his last three starts and lost to Colorado on Friday at Chase Field. He surrendered three runs and seven hits in six innings of a 4-2 loss, falling to 4-2 with a 2.47 ERA in eight starts this season.

The 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner, who is 2-0 in three road starts in 2008, owns a 2-0 record and a 2.10 earned run average in five career outings against the Cubs.

San Diego, the last-place team in the NL West, has won three of four games since losing five straight, and posted a 4-3 victory over the Cubs on Tuesday night. Khalil Greene highlighted a four-run fourth inning with a three-run homer off Cubs starter Jason Marquis that helped the Padres snap a five-game losing streak as the visitor.

Padres veteran starter Shawn Estes gave up three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings of work in his first start since April 5, 2006. He missed the entire 2007 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but worked his way back to pick up his 100th career victory Tuesday night. Closer Trevor Hoffman later worked a perfect ninth with two strikeouts to record his seventh save of the season.

San Diego is 1-1 on a seven-game road trip to Chicago and Seattle.

Marquis suffered the loss, allowing four runs and nine hits with three strikeouts and one walk over 5 2/3 innings.

Alfonso Soriano homered and Reed Johnson added two RBI for the Cubs, who saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt. Chicago is 4-1 on a 10-game homestand versus Arizona, San Diego and Pittsburgh.

Chicago will ride the hot hand of pitcher Ted Lilly on Wednesday. He has won back-to-back starts and is 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA in his past four trips to the mound. In his most recent assignment, Lilly hurled seven innings of one-run ball in a 3-1 victory Friday versus Arizona.

The left-hander, who is 3-4 with a 5.24 earned run average in eight starts this season, is a perfect 3-0 in four career appearances (3 starts) against the Padres. Lilly also sports a 2.19 ERA in those contests and has lasted at least six innings in five straight starts.

The Padres went 5-3 against the Cubs last season, with a 3-2 mark at Wrigley Field, and are 13-4 over the previous 17 matchups in this series.
