Washington Nationals (16-23) at New York Mets (19-17), 7:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Right-hander John Maine tries for a second win over Washington this season when the New York Mets host the Nationals tonight in the second of a four-game series at Shea Stadium.

Lifetime against Washington, he is 4-2 in eight starts with a 4.84 earned run average.

Overall, Maine has won three straight starts since he dropped a 7-1 decision to the Chicago Cubs on April 21.

In those wins, he's given up 13 hits and five runs in 19 1/3 innings.

For the Nationals, lefty John Lannan makes his second start of 2008 against the Mets. He got a no-decision the first time around after allowing three hits and a run in six innings, walking none and striking out a season-best 11.

Lannan's 0-1 in two starts lifetime against New York, with a 4.63 ERA in 11 1/2 innings.

Lannan has won three of four starts since the game with the Mets, allowing 17 hits and six earned runs in 16 innings.

Perez (1-3), who had collected only two hits in 13 at-bats this year, more than doubled his season output at the dish.

Meanwhile, atop the hill, the veteran southpaw hurled 6 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on 11 hits and two walks while fanning five, good enough for his first win in nine outings.

Jesus Flores doubled, crossed the plate twice and drove in two runs for the Nationals, who snapped a three-game skid. Nick Johnson scored three runs and knocked one in, and Lastings Milledge doubled, scored and had two RBI.

Rob Mackowiak added two runs and an RBI for Washington, which had dropped five of six. Felipe Lopez finished with a pair of hits and one run batted in.

Damion Easley went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for the Mets, who had triumphed in three of their last four overall, and four of their five matchups with the Nats this season.

Nelson Figueroa (2-3) lasted five innings and was roughed up for six runs -- four earned -- on five hits and five walks while striking out four, falling to 1-2 in six career starts against Washington.

The Mets have won four of their six matchups with the Nationals this season.
