St. Louis Cardinals (23-15) at Milwaukee Brewers (17-19), 2:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals will shoot for their second straight win when they resume a four-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers today at Miller Park.

St. Louis ended a three-game slide with Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Brewers, as Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to lead the way. Starter Joel Pineiro allowed two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out four through 6 1/3 innings.

Chris Duncan hit a two-run homer and Skip Schumaker had two hits, a run scored and a run batted in for the Cards. Brendan Ryan added three hits and a run scored in the win.

Taking the hill for the Cardinals today will be Braden Looper, who is 5-1 with a 3.95 ERA in seven starts this season. Looper has won two straight starts and beat Colorado at Coors Field the last time out on May 6. He allowed four runs and 10 hits in 8 1/3 innings of a 6-5 victory.

The right-hander, who is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in two road starts this season, faced Milwaukee on April 15 this season at Busch Stadium. Looper held the Brewers to a run and three hits through five frames of a 6-1 victory.

Looper is 4-4 with a 4.62 earned run average in 30 career appearances (four starts) against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee starter Ben Sheets tossed seven innings of three-run ball on nine hits and one walk, striking out six. Prince Fielder hit a game-tying home run in the eighth and Ryan Braun had three hits for Milwaukee, which lost after snapping a season-high six-game losing streak on Friday.

Eric Gagne suffered the loss in relief for Milwaukee.

The Brewers will send Jeff Suppan to the hill on Sunday, and he is just 1-2 with a 5.22 earned run average in seven starts this season.

Suppan has dropped back-to-back starts and is winless over the previous six trips to the mound. In his last start on Tuesday, Suppan was reached for three runs and eight hits in five innings of a 3-0 loss at Florida.

The veteran righty and former Cardinal is 5-2 with a 3.32 ERA in nine career games against St. Louis.

St. Louis is 32-22 in this series since the start of the 2005 campaign.
