(Sports Network) - The NL East-leading Florida Marlins will try to extend their season-high winning streak to six games tonight, when they resume a seven-game road trip with the second of three straight meetings with Washington at Nationals Park.
Florida has won five in a row, including Friday's 7-3 victory over the Nats in the opener of the series. Luis Gonzalez had a three-run double and Ricky Nolasco pitched six strong innings to lead the way.
Nolasco, who was winless in his last four outings, allowed four hits and a run, while walking two and striking out six. Jorge Cantu had a pair of hits for the Marlins, who are 6-1 so far against the Nationals this season, with a 4-0 record at Nationals Park.
The Marlins are one game ahead of Philadelphia in the division standings, and will also visit Cincinnati for four games on the swing.
Andrew Miller will handle pitching duties for the Marlins on Saturday, and he is 2-2 with a 7.96 ERA in seven starts this season.
Miller is unbeaten over his last four starts (2-0), recording a win over San Diego on May 4 with six innings of two-run ball.
The lefty squared off with Washington on April 18 this season and did not factor in the outcome of a 6-4 loss. Miller was reached for three runs and six hits in five innings of work. He is 0-0 with a 9.72 earned run average in two career starts against the Nats.
Washington has dropped three of its last four games, as Cristian Guzman and Nick Johnson each had two hits and an RBI in defeat. They had won six of their previous seven home contests before Friday's contest.
Starter Tim Redding absorbed the loss after allowing four hits and six runs -- five earned -- over 5 1/3 innings of work.
Nationals pitcher Mike O'Connor gets the nod tonight, and is 1-0 with a 6.35 ERA in four relief appearances this season.
O'Connor has recorded back-to-back no decisions, including Wednesday's performance during a 4-3 loss at Houston. He pitched just one innings and surrendered one hit and walked a batter.
The young left-hander is 0-1 with a 14.21 ERA in two career starts against the Marlins.
