Tampa Bay Rays (17-16) at Toronto Blue Jays (17-18), 7:07 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays try to stay on the winning track this evening, when they play the rubber match of their three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre.

Toronto got a terrific pitching effort and scored more than five runs for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday. Shaun Marcum took a one-hitter into the ninth inning and Scott Rolen sparked a late rally with a two-run homer, helping the Jays to a 6-2 win.

Marcum (4-2) was one out from completing a one-hit shutout, but ended up surrendering two runs on four total hits in 8 2/3 frames, while recording nine strikeouts.

Rolen also doubled, while Marco Scutaro finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and Rod Barajas added a pair of hits for Toronto, which has won six of seven. The Blue Jays also crossed the plate more than five times for the first time since scoring 11 runs against Baltimore back on April 15.

No American League team has had such a streak since Detroit went 24 games without scoring more than five runs in 2002.

Matt Garza (1-1) was solid in 6 2/3 innings for the Rays, as he gave up just one run on six hits despite taking the loss. Scott Dohmann and Trever Miller gave up two runs apiece while working just one-third of an inning.

B.J. Upton provided the Rays' offense with a two-run double, but Tampa Bay lost for the fourth time in its last five games.

Getting the call for the Blue Jays today will be right-hander Jesse Litsch, who will try to avenge his only loss of the season. Litsch has won his last two starts since losing to the Rays on April 22 and defeated the Chicago White Sox in his last trip to the hill on Saturday. He surrendered two runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings of that one, running his record to 4-1 while lowering his earned run average to 4.32 on the season.

Litsch was pounded for five runs and eight hits in just 3 1/3 innings to the Rays a few weeks ago and is 1-2 in his young career against them with a 3.86 ERA in four starts.

Tampa will counter with righty Edwin Jackson, who is 0-3 since starting the year with a pair of impressive wins. Jackson's latest setback came Friday in Boston, as the Red Sox battered him for six runs and nine hits in four innings, dropping him to 2-3 on the year and ballooning his ERA to 4.98.

Since surrendering a run in 14 innings of his first two starts, Jackson has given up 18 runs in four starts since, spanning 20 1/3 innings.

Jackson is 0-2 lifetime against the Jays with a 4.22 ERA in six games, five of which have been starts.

Tampa swept a three-game set from the Jays from April 22-24 and has won five of six and seven of 10 in the series.
