Minnesota Twins (16-15) at Chicago White Sox (15-16), 8:11 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Chicago hopes Mark Buehrle can match Gavin Floyd's brilliant performance from Tuesday when the White Sox play the middle contest of their three-game set with the Minnesota Twins at U.S. Cellular Field.

Floyd carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning last night, as Chicago picked up a 7-1 victory in the opener of this series between AL Central rivals. Jermaine Dye homered and drove in a pair of runs, while five Chicago players had two hits, including Carlos Quentin, who also had two RBI to help the White Sox snap a six-game losing streak.

The story of the night, though, was Floyd (3-1), who got stronger as the game wore on. The 25-year-old right-hander set the Twins down in order in the fifth through eighth innings, then started the ninth by catching Brendan Harris looking on a sweeping curveball on the outside corner for the first out.

But Joe Mauer ripped the second pitch he saw to deep left-center, and the ball fell just a few feet in front of a diving Nick Swisher. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen opted to then go to the bullpen with a six-run lead, and Bobby Jenks got the final two outs to end the game.

Floyd (3-1) allowed an unearned run, walked three and struck out four to nail down his first-ever win against the Twins.

Nick Blackburn (2-2) surrendered four runs -- three earned -- on six hits in six innings, and absorbed the loss as the Twins had a five-game win streak stopped.

Buehrle, meanwhile, is winless in his last four starts and was dealt a hard- luck loss in his last time to the hill on Friday against Toronto. Buehrle gave up just two unearned runs and five hits in eight innings of that one, as he fell to 1-3 on the year to go along with a 4.42 ERA.

The 29-year-old left-hander, though, has had tremendous success against the Twins in his career, going 20-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 33 games, 31 of which have been starts.

Minnesota will counter with Cuban right-hander Livan Hernandez, who is 4-1 with a 4.43 ERA. Hernandez bounced back from his first loss of the year on Friday, holding the Detroit Tigers to a run and eight hits in seven innings.

Hernandez had surrendered seven runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings to the Texas Rangers in his previous start.

In three games against the Sox, Hernandez is 1-1 with a 6.32 ERA.

Minnesota took three of four from the White Sox earlier in the year after these teams split their 18 matchups a year ago. The Twins were just 4-5 in Chicago last season.
