San Diego Padres (12-20) at Atlanta Braves (15-15), 7:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Braves will try to extend their home winning streak to five games when they open a three-game series versus the San Diego Padres tonight from Turner Field.

Atlanta has won 10 of its last 12 home games and is an NL-best 11-4 as the host this season. It just swept the Cincinnati Reds in three games to open a six-game homestand, recording a 14-7 victory in Sunday's series finale.

Chipper Jones hit a three-run homer and knocked in five runs to lead the Braves, who completed the sweep after a four-game slide and outscored the Reds by a 25-8 margin during the set. Mark Kotsay added a solo home run, three RBI and three runs scored, while Kelly Johnson collected a career-high four hits.

Tom Glavine started for Atlanta, but allowed six runs on seven hits through 4 2/3 innings of work. The lefty struck out three and walked five batters before Royce Ring earned the win by getting the final out of the fifth frame.

Taking the ball for the Braves on Tuesday will be rookie Jair Jurrjens, who is 3-2 with a 3.05 earned run average in six starts this season. Jurrjens, acquired from Detroit in an offseason deal for shortstop Edgar Renteria, is 2-0 over his last three outings, and recorded a no-decision the last time out on April 30 at Washington. He allowed one run and two hits in seven innings of a 3-2 setback.

The right-hander, who is 2-0 at home in 2008, will face the Padres for the first time in his career.

San Diego has dropped three of four and 14 of its last 18 games, including Sunday's 10-3 loss to the Florida Marlins in the final contest of a three-game series at Dolphin Stadium. Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and Josh Bard ended with two RBI in defeat.

Padres future Hall of Fame pitcher Greg Maddux was denied again his bid for career win No. 350, as he got shelled for five runs -- four earned -- on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Maddux's effort dropped the Padres to 2-4 on their current nine-game road trip.

Chris Young will try to stay on the winning path tonight when he toes the rubber for the Padres. Young is 2-2 with a 3.63 ERA in six starts this season, and was 0-2 in four trips to the hill before beating Philadelphia on April 30 at Citizens Bank Park. He yielded just a pair of runs in six frames of a 4-2 victory in South Philly.

The tall righty is 2-1 with a lofty 7.11 earned run average in four career starts against the Braves.

Atlanta went 5-2 against San Diego last season, with a 3-1 mark at Turner Field. The Braves are 13-4 over the previous 17 matchups in this series.
