(Sports Network) - Veteran Tim Wakefield aims for a second defeat of Detroit in 2008 and the 15th of his career tonight when the Boston Red Sox take on the Tigers in the second game of a four-game set at Comerica Park.

Wakefield, who'll be 42 in August, earned a 12-6 decision against Detroit on April 10 at Fenway Park. In that game, the right-handed knuckleballer allowed three hits and an unearned run in five innings.

Lifetime against Detroit, he is 14-10 in 33 games - 21 starts - with a 4.41 earned run average.

Wakefield dropped a 3-0 decision to Toronto in his last start on May 1, allowing six hits and three runs in seven innings.

Southpaw Nate Robertson takes the mound looking for a second straight victory for the Tigers.

He began the season with three losses and two no-decisions in five starts, but rebounded to beat the New York Yankees, 8-4, with 5 2/3 innings of seven-hit, four-run ball on May 1 in the Bronx.

Robertson lost, 12-6, opposite Wakefield in the April 10 game at Fenway Park, getting tagged for eight hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings. He is 2-4 lifetime against Boston in eight starts, with a 6.46 ERA.

On Monday, Mike Lowell finished 3-for-5 with a single, double and his first home run of the season as Boston topped Detroit, 6-3. Kevin Youkilis added a two-run blast while David Ortiz homered and drove in a pair for the Red Sox, winners in four straight and six of seven.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (5-0) remained perfect on the year by allowing two hits and one run over five innings, but walked a career-high eight batters. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless ninth for his 10th save and second in as many days.

Marcus Thames had a two-run single and Curtis Granderson added an RBI hit for the Tigers, who have dropped four games in a row.

Jeremy Bonderman (2-3) allowed seven hits and four runs over six frames in the loss, breaking a four-game personal win streak over the Red Sox.

Boston won two of three over Detroit at Fenway Park on April 8-10, but was swept in a three-game set at Comerica Stadium from July 6-8 of last season.
