Chicago White Sox (14-13) at Toronto Blue Jays (13-17), 1:07 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays continue an important seven-game homestand with the second of four consecutive meetings against the Chicago White Sox today at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays reside at the bottom of the American League East standings with a 13-17 record that has led to speculation regarding manager John Gibbons' job security. Toronto had lost eight of nine, but the last two outings have resulted in much-needed wins.

Shaun Marcum was extremely efficient on the mound last night and Shannon Stewart's two-run single in the first inning provided all the offense, as the Blue Jays blanked the White Sox, 2-0.

Marcum (3-2) scattered two hits over 6 2/3 innings and struck out nine batters to earn the victory. Four relievers combined to toss 2 1/3 frames of hitless ball.

Vernon Wells and Stewart each had two hits for the Blue Jays, who were coming off a 2-7 road trip.

Mark Buehrle (1-3) was the hard-luck loser, yielding two unearned runs on five hits, while striking out seven in a complete game effort.

Orlando Cabrera notched both hits -- a pair of singles -- for the White Sox, who have dropped three straight.

Fans of the White Sox are excited about the recent performances of young lefty John Danks, who will get the ball this afternoon. Danks is 2-1 in his last three starts with a staggering 0.85 ERA, and while he did lose his last outing, he currently has a streak of facing 66 consecutive batters without surrendering a walk.

Danks has only one career appearance against Toronto to his credit and did not figure in the decision despite allowing only one earned run in five innings.

Opposing Danks today with be Jesse Litsch, who is coming off his best start of the young season. Litsch improved to 3-1 on Sunday, as he surrendered just one earned run in seven innings en route to victory over the Royals.

Litsch has never faced the White Sox.

The Blue Jays went 4-3 against Chicago in 2007 and won three of four from the White Sox at the Rogers Centre from May 31-June 3 of last season.
