(Sports Network) - Dan Haren will try again to pick up his first win in an Arizona uniform and extend the Diamondbacks' current winning streak in the process, as his club plays host to the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at Chase Field.
Acquired from Oakland in a December trade, Haren will make his home debut tonight, as Arizona opened the season with six straight games on the road. The 27-year-old righty made his first start for the Diamondbacks last Wednesday and got a no decision in his team's 6-5 loss. Haren allowed three runs on four hits over six innings while striking out four.
Haren, who went 15-9 with a 3.07 earned run average in 34 starts with Oakland last year, hasn't made a start against the Dodgers since 2003, while a rookie with the St. Louis Cardinals. He earned the win in that one by tossing six innings of one-run, six-hit ball. Haren also faced the Dodgers in a relief role in 2004.
The Diamondbacks have some momentum on their side after rallying to defeat Colorado, 5-2, in 10 innings on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Down 1-0 in the ninth, Mark Reynolds hit a two-run homer to put Arizona in front.
However, Brandon Lyon (1-1) blew his second save of the season by allowing a game-tying homer to Matt Holliday. Stephen Drew responded in the 10th inning with a leadoff homer, with Reynolds and Alex Romero also plating runs in the frame.
Chad Qualls notched the first save of his Diamondbacks career after being acquired in an offseason trade with Houston. The right-hander held the Rockies scoreless in the bottom of the 10th.
Arizona's three straight wins have come on the heels of a two-game skid.
The Dodgers have opened the season with four wins in six games, and took two out of three over San Diego after Sunday's 3-2 victory. Derek Lowe tossed six strong innings and Chin-Lung Hu knocked in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, plating Russell Martin.
Lowe gave up two runs -- one earned -- on five hits while fanning six and walking one in a no decision. Jonathan Broxton (1-0) finished the seventh and pitched a scoreless eighth to record the win, while Takashi Saito hurled a perfect ninth to pick up his first save of the season.
Andre Ethier had two hits for the Dodgers, one a homer, while Martin also smacked a run-scoring double and walked twice as well. Rafael Furcal had two hits in Sunday's victory.
Right-hander Esteban Loaiza will make his first start of the season for Los Angeles tonight. Loaiza actually made a relief appearance last Wednesday against the Giants and took the loss after yielding a run on two hits over 2 2/3 innings of the Dodgers' 2-1 setback to San Francisco.
Loaiza, 36, was 1-4 with an 8.34 ERA in five starts with LA last year and has never beaten Arizona in his career. In eight games (7 starts) against the Diamondbacks, he is 0-4 with a 6.05 ERA.
Loaiza dropped a pair of starts versus the Diamondbacks last year, allowing nine runs over 8 2/3 innings.
