Kansas City Royals (3-2) at Minnesota Twins (3-3), 2:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Boof Bonser will try and help the Minnesota Twins complete a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals this afternoon at the Metrodome.

After handing the Royals their first loss of the season on Friday, Minnesota made it two in a row yesterday afternoon, as Justin Morneau hit a three-run homer and had four RBI to lead the Twins to a 6-4 victory.

Jason Kubel and Craig Monroe also had RBI hits for the Twins, who have won two straight after dropping their previous three games.

Livan Hernandez (2-0) earned the win starting in place of Kevin Slowey, who will miss at least one turn after straining his right triceps muscle in his season debut against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday.

Hernandez surrendered four runs on seven hits while striking out two over seven innings. Joe Nathan threw a scoreless ninth to record his third save of the season and second in as many games.

Miguel Olivo had a two-run single and Alberto Callaspo contributed an RBI triple for Kansas City, which had won three straight in Detroit to open the season.

Royals starter Gil Meche (0-1) was tagged with the loss. He struggled through 5 2/3 innings of work, giving up six runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking two.

Bonser will take the hill for the Twins today after being saddled with the loss in his season debut on Tuesday against the LA Angels of Anaheim. He allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) in that one, while striking out four without allowing a walk.

The 26-year-old right-hander is 2-4 lifetime against the Royals with a 4.73 ERA in nine starts.

Kansas City will pin its hopes on veteran Brett Tomko, who will be making his first start of the season. Tomko actually pitched in relief against the Detroit Tigers on Opening Day, and gave up a solo home run in his two innings of work.

Tomko, who signed with Kansas City as a free agent from San Diego in the offseason, is 3-0 with a 5.16 ERA in five starts against the Twins. However, he has not faced them since the 2005 campaign.

Minnesota split its 18 matchups with the Royals last season and is 36-22 in the series since the start of the 2005 campaign.
