LA Angels of Anaheim (1-1) at Minnesota Twins (1-1), 8:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim try to make it two straight wins this evening, when they play the third installment of their season-opening four-game series with the Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome.

After dropping the opener, the Angels bounced back on Tuesday, as Jon Garland hurled eight brilliant innings in his Los Angeles debut and Mike Napoli and Casey Kotchman both homered to guide the Halos to a 9-1 win.

Garland, who was acquired in November from the Chicago White Sox for slick-fielding shortstop Orlando Cabrera, allowed just one run on six hits to get the win.

Vladimir Guerrero finished 3-for-4 and drove in three runs for Los Angeles, while Garret Anderson ended 3-for-5 with two RBI. Former Twin Torii Hunter was the only Angels starter without a hit and is hitless through his first two games.

Adam Everett was 1-for-2 and drove in Minnesota's only run. Twins starter Boof Bonser struggled in the first inning but settled down to throw six frames, allowing four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits en route to the loss.

Minnesota has not homered through its first two games for the first time since 2000, when the team hit one in its third contest of the year.

Heading to the hill tonight for the Angels will be 26-year-old lefty Joe Saunders, who was 7-1 through his first 11 starts last year. However, he finished the year 8-5 with a 4.44 ERA.

Saunders won his only other start against the Twins last season, holding them to two runs and six hits in seven innings.

Minnesota, meanwhile, will counter with a 26-year-old hurler of its own in righty Nick Blackburn, who will be making his first career start. Blackburn did make six appearances out of the bullpen for the Twins last season, but pitched to a 7.71 ERA.

Kotchman, who is 5-for-9 in his first two games, has hit safely in six straight games against the Twins, batting .524 (11-21) with six runs scored, a homer and six RBI in that span.

The Angels went 6-3 against Minnesota last season and have won five of their last six in the series. The Twins have only managed 12 runs in their last six games against Los Angeles and have not homered in that stretch.
