Chicago White Sox (57-78) at Cleveland Indians (77-57), 7:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians hope to start September the way they closed out August, as the American League Central front-runners put a season- high seven-game win streak on the line tonight at Jacobs Field against the road-challenged Chicago White Sox.

Cleveland extended Chicago's longest road losing streak in 38 years by rallying for an 8-5 victory in Friday's opener of this three-game series. The Indians erupted for six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, highlighted by Casey Blake's tie-breaking three-run double with two out.

Blake finished 2-for-4 and Victor Martinez added a pair of RBI as the Indians lengthened their lead atop the Central division to 5 1/2 games over reeling Detroit, which lost to Oakland in extra innings on Friday.

Aaron Fultz (4-2) picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief of Fausto Carmona, who allowed five runs and walked six over six frames. Rafael Betancourt threw a 1-2-3 ninth to record his first save of 2007.

White Sox starter Mark Buehrle limited Cleveland to two runs on four hits over the first seven innings, but three Chicago relievers proceeded to deny the lefty a victory in the eighth. Mike MacDougal (1-5) was given the loss after surrendering three runs and failing to retire any of the five batters he faced.

Chicago has now lost 10 consecutive road games, the franchise's longest such slide since July 14-29, 1969. The Sox dropped 12 in a row away from home from June 10-July 6, 1962.

Cleveland, meanwhile, will be shooting for its first eight-game win streak since a nine-game run from June 10-19, 2005.

The Indians turn to Paul Byrd tonight in hopes of maintaining their winning form. The veteran right-hander has won each of his last three starts and is 6-1 over his eight most recent trips to the hill.

Byrd delivered a solid six innings in Monday's 8-3 victory over Minnesota, holding the Twins to three runs on six hits. That improved the 36-year-old to 7-3 at Jacobs Field this year, despite a 6.05 earned run average in his 13 home starts.

In 11 career starts against Chicago, Byrd owns a solid 6-2 record with a 4.72 ERA. He is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in a pair of outings versus the White Sox this season.

Chicago will try to snap a four-game overall losing skid tonight behind Javier Vazquez, who leads the team with 11 victories in 2007. The right-hander was not in top form last Sunday, however, as he surrendered seven runs on six hits -- three of which were homers -- in six innings of an 11-1 loss to Boston.

Vazquez did strike out 10 Red Sox that day and now has 157 for the season, his eighth consecutive year of at least 150 K's.

The Puerto Rico native is 4-2 with a 4.05 ERA in nine lifetime starts against Cleveland and won his only start versus the Tribe this season. That came at Jacobs Field on April 13, with Vazquez throwing 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball.

Cleveland has taken eight of the 13 meetings with Chicago this season and owns a 4-3 advantage in the games played at Jacobs Field in 2007.
